By George

No longer must one go to school
To shoot and kill and then succumb.
Like Zimmerman, why play the fool?
Make Trayvon-Martin types look dumb:
The sort who in the dark pursued
Are going to stand their ground and feud

Except in nearly half the states,
Conspicuously Florida,
The ground could go to one who baits
Another for a last huzzah,
And, armed, rubs out the pursuee,
Exonerated by decree.

George could have got his brains bashed in
Indeed if Trayvon didn’t die.
But why he had to shoot to win
Is by default in his mind’s eye.
The kid, I hope, in his last breath
Agreed he hadn’t caused his death.
