Didn't She Almost Have it All

Although a medicine’s prescribed,
And not a drug dealt on the street,
It could be less safe if imbibed
By patients who their health mistreat
By taking it with alcohol,
Indifferent to what might befall.

Because it isn't watered down
It interacts with booze much more.
Since Whitney Houston didn’t drown,
It’s what a coroner looks for
If someone’s found dead in a tub
Soon after guzzling at a club.

Her hotel room contained more pills
Than in your bathroom cabinet.
I keenly hope her death instills
A cautionary tale, and yet
The gift of voice I’ll yet prefer.
Let’s save our deepest love for her.
