More than Skin Deep

In Washington, the Redskins’ name
Has properly come under fire.
Unreasonably put to shame,
Minorities detect their ire
When others make them feel chagrin
For just the color of their skin.

Suppose the city’s hockey squad
The Caps, were Whiteys (which most are),
Or that its Wizard hoopsters trod
Their court as Darkies (blacks by far).
Would fans and players tolerate
What First Americans must hate?

Dan Snyder, Redskins’ president,
Rejects the thought of changing names.
But surely wouldn’t he resent
Some anti-semites fanning flames,
Because he’s Jewish, making bids
For blueish D.C. Kikes or Yids?

The answer’s yes, so let him prove
That he’s no thick-skinned hypocrite
And chose a brand at some remove
From Skins and thus himself acquit
Agreeably with marque that spans,
Like Democrat-Republicans!
