Opting Out

If there’s no public-option plan
To constitute health-care reform,
To be consistent as we can
And do without one more such storm,
I say the Postal Service goes
And gladdens all commercial foes.

As well, suppliers, COD,
Will find new ways to boost their rate.
Recipients like you and me
Will pay for supplementary weight:
More padding — in the same respect,
Defensive medicine unchecked.

Fed Ex, Big Brown, which do they prize?
Suppliers or the addressees?
In fact it’s neither. Realize,
Themselves is whom they have to please:
Like Cigna and its bottom line
So Wall Street thinks they look just fine.
