Electoral Kindergarten

I love it. Having failed to win
With shorter early-polling hours
Or picture ID cards akin
To paring Blue States’ voting powers,
In some their GOP now floats
A  ploy for counting national votes.

Instead of winner taking all
According to the statewide count,
Election boards would judge the haul
By toting his or her amount
Congressional District (CD)-wise
To see that Red instead applies.

Such districts on election night
You might recall on national maps
Made Romney look as though he might
Win nearly fifty states perhaps,
Except the Blue Obama dots
Showed city voters, lots and lots

Indeed if rural CDs weighed
As much as urban, Mitt would be
Our president, though faith betrayed,
Conferred by a minority.
I think the time has come to boast
One count extending coast to coast.

For those who favor personhood
For zygotes, what of Democrats?
Aren’t they as persons just as good
As Tea Partyers, or am I bats?
One man (one woman) one whole vote.
That’s national doctrine, all take note.
