Is Cold Fusion Getting Hot?

For decades deemed by scientists as junk
Cold fusion’s once more in the mainstream news.
On Sixty Minutes, rather than debunk,
Some scientists gave optimistic views
Of what could be the world’s most crucial find,
Which might be needed to maintain mankind.

Embroidered though it sounds, the seas will mount
If fossil fuels keep spewing CO2,
And nations fail to take into account
Their midlands might enjoy an ocean view.
However, greenhouse gases aren’t decreed.
It’s not too late to see that they recede.

The trick is in the atoms: Make them fuse,
As does the sun but not at such high heat.
And generate more power than we use.
In, hydrogen. Out, helium. Some feat!
That’s hydrogen, as part of H2O,
Or water pumped where other fuels now go.

The hope is: put the sun inside a box
Sometime before it’s gravely overdue.
As Einstein showed, it’s not a paradox
That energy is matter viewed anew.
Fresh water in the tanks of SUVs
Instead of sea salt spicing Lake Louise.
