Central to Our Well-Being

Woe is me but no use whining
At the way the public’s spoken.
Sooner, find a silver lining,
Even though my heart’s still broken:
From now on Obama cannot
Leave the GOP to do squat.

‘Stead of chanting no and never,
If they’re going to honor pledges,
They must show newborn endeavor
Countering what he alleges
That they offer few proposals.
Though, in turn, they say they’ve oodles.

Each might like to shed some baggage.
On the right Tea Party wackos
For Republicans bode damage.
True believers on the left pose
Dangerous all-or-nothing doctrine—
No health care sans public option.

All as centrists ought to refit.
(Clinton after a shellacking
Ended welfare as we know it.
Speaker Gingrich lent his backing.)
Rather stalemates, pork that creates
Public works in Red and Blue states.
