No Smoking

The FDA’s considering
An end to menthol-flavored smokes.
Already, fruity flavoring
The Congress banned in hope to coax
The kids from thinking there’s less threat
If nicotine’s not all they get.

At blacks, producers also pitch
Their frosty brands, Newports and Kools.
And at each group’s expense enrich
Themselves as cancer-causing ghouls.
On packs, the FDA’s okayed
The gruesome deaths they cause, portrayed.

I ask: what’s left to regulate?
The scores of poisons in the smoke
Are banes to ban, not tolerate.
To sanction them makes law a joke.
What other U.S. industry
Could go on such a killing spree?

All smoking ads should disappear;
With logic, so too cigarettes.
Permitting them is rank unclear.
It’s homicidal as it gets.
Perhaps bootleggers would mauraud
Till then we’re parties to a fraud.
