For This We Pay Taxes?

In Washington, House hearings start
This week into the GSA,
The agency that, off the chart,
800 grand-plus threw away
In Vegas on some managers
Unconscious of parameters.

In posh surroundings, days began
With breakfast costing forty bucks.
Two thousand times as much it ran
To learn to build a bike, which sucks
For taxpayers who wonder what
If anything gets budget-cut.

Days ended with Beef-Wellington
Hors d'oeuvres just shy of five bucks each.
A mentalist was lots of fun
Although his goal, beyond my reach.
In lieu of reading people’s minds,
I wished he’d belted their behinds.

For punishment should be their dread.
They know so if they take the Fifth.
Though I’ve a better plan instead:
Assign them to Ron Paul forthwith.
The congressman scorns bureaucrats.
They’d soon be unemployment stats.
