Taking Credit

If by the millions credit cards
Are hacked, as brought to light last week,
Aren’t reassurances canards
And havoc what the bandits wreak,
As though pickpockets clogged the streets
And filched our funds as if free eats?

Both MasterCard and Visa swore
Nobody pierced their own routine
And blamed instead a processor
Who acts as middleman between
The merchants and the holders’ banks
Where cyberthieves broke through its ranks

 It’s Global Payments, scary name,
In view of hackers spread worldwide,
And scapegoat for the rest to blame
Because they should have seen applied
Their own restraints when cash prevails.
I think I’ll look for mattress sales.
