Marion the Licensarian

So sad when people start out well
And cavalierly think success
Can license them the capital
To make their life a public mess.

A champion of civil rights
And marcher throughout Southern states,
A black man vexing violent whites,
He placed his life in dangerous straits.

In Washington, as school-board chair
He worked to upgrade public schools.
Then off and on two terms as mayor
That’s when he started breaking rules.

Like don’t get stung while smoking crack
And then complain, Bitch set me up!
Do pay your taxes or catch flak
And spend six months in prison? Yup.

Just recently in Washington:
Arrested, charged but then set free
Licentious-acting Marion,
Ex-girl friend stalked supposedly.

A councilman a second time,
He gave her thousands worth of work
But threw her out. She said her crime
Was not to s--- his d---. Some perk!

When worthy public figures goof
They bring down more than their careers.
Their crusades’ foes take it as proof
Of need to quell these hopes for years.

Full D.C. voting's apropos,
In Congress constantly undone.
Barry’s Nine Lives on HBO?
I wish that he’d had only one.
