This is the Captain Snoozing

Why didn’t Sully get a call?
He used the Hudson, after all
To ditch his US Airways plane
And well-deserved prestige attain.
He herded passengers out first;
As last man out, he risked the worst.

In Minnesota, much the same:
Vacating would have been his aim.
He would have wheeled the aircraft stairs
Out to the plane and answer prayers
Of passengers who wondered if
Forever turds they’d have to sniff.

ExpressJet Airlines would have balked.
Some tots had screamed and adults squawked
Six hours only several feet
From bathrooms, drink and stuff to eat
Inside the airport terminal.
The captain, though, said please sit still.

He said the TSA went home,
And so no passengers could roam.
The airport boss said of their plight,
They could have come and spent the night.
And Sully, what might he have said?
Brace for food and go to bed.
