Yes-Brainer

Green Bay’s favored by a little
In the Super Bowl tomorrow.
Who will win? I’m noncommittal.
Neither team I often follow.
Still, the Packers are my favorites
Off-field more than for their blitz hits.

That’s because late in the season
When their q-back got a wallop,
Out he came for one good reason:
Worrisome brain-tissue buildup.
Diagnosis: bad concussion,
Leading to lame-brained discussion.

Pittsburgh Steelers, Bowl game rival,
Pooh-poohed Aaron Rodgers’ benching.
Roethlisberger, their own marvel,
Takes in stride such blows gut-wrenching.
Permanent, though, as he has seemed,
Neither’s skull will be if too creamed.

Little-league and high-school coaches,
Promise Sunday while your viewing,
More so as next fall approaches,
Even if your crowd is booing,
Take a kid out if he’s senseless.
He might sit out college unless.
