Bend, Don't Break Off

Obama’s right on (more or less)—
Israeli borders as they were
Before the Arabs’ unsuccess
With meting out a massacre
In ‘67, spurred by hate,
To blow away the Jewish state.

They must agree to realign
And swap ground where the other side
Has settlements, or else resign
Themselves to lives they won’t abide
As strangers on the other’s soil
And further enmity embroil.

What’s more, as statisticians see,
If Arab growth’s on schedule
They’ll make up a majority
In twenty years in Israel.
Apartheid rule would then take place
Decreed by faith instead of race.

In any case, Jews should accept
Right now a State of Palestine
Before the Middle East is swept
By Muslim masses more hard line
But maybe less quick to condemn
If all could share Jerusalem.
