Catching Z's Instead of Bernie

So Bernie Madoff’s gone for good
Though not his cleaned-out clients’ rage.
I wish that also Judge Chin could
Cram SEC’s staff in a cage
And let them rot for years as well,
As shameless sloths for what befell.

The clients, blinded by their greed,
Who’ve seen their multimillions tank,
Are less than tragic in their need,
To those with hundreds in the bank.
Comparatively, nonetheless,
Easthampton’s cold with no address.

Besides, the SEC’s for all,
And often heard, these past nine years,
That steady double-digit haul
The funds appeared to earn adheres
To foolproof signs that skeptics deem
The presence of a Ponzi scheme.

Markopolos, green eye-shade, knew
In minutes how the funds were cooked
And spent years arguing his view
Before he witnessed Bernie booked.
The SEC should feel our wrath.
If only it had done the math.
