Take a Hike

The question isn’t if he’s cruel
Or insincere that bothers me.
Since time began, those fit to rule
Have often proved ability
As multitaskers on the job
Who make the hearts of lovers throb.

Mark Sanford’s fault as governor,
South Carolinians should see,
Was not his screw-up, as it were,
It was his rank stupidity.
They ought to issue him the ax
For failing to conceal his tracks.

For instance, thinking that a face
On national news so often seen
Could disappear without a trace
While flying to The Argentine?
Or lurid emails, news front page,
Would vanish in our cyberage?

It's time he spun a truthful tale
And hit the Appalachian Trail.
