The Truth Comes Out

Hat’s off to you! As president,
I often think you’re heaven sent.
The speech in Cairo helped repair
Our bonds with Muslims everywhere.
Though, quoth you, sometimes out of sync,
We’ve shared much more than people think.

You pointed out unlike last year
When voters weren’t supposed to hear
Your middle name, like Saddam’s last:
Hussein! Campaign aides looked aghast.
And Indonesia, boyhood land,
Say Indo-where? they’d ask offhand.

Oh who cares now? As candidate
You won and now you resonate,
Which means you move what mostly counts,
The hearts and minds in large amounts
Of those across the Middle East
Who need some peace to say the least.
