No Kidding?

How quick they take the grandkids’ side
Those penny-wise conservatives,
When health-care talk they can’t abide
Or that on climate change which gives
Our children and ourselves a pass
Before—one warns of—cash morass.

But what if practices persist
And we as patients, shoved along,
From specialist to specialist
Continue fractured care that’s wrong,
Befitting greed instead of need.
Can our kids even plan their seed?

And what if fossil fuel like coal
Continues as our power choice
Instead of wind or ethanol
To maintain shores. For now, rejoice!
Obama’s efforts these espouse,
And narrowly squeaked through the House.

Let’s hope the Senate also opts
To pass the bill and make it law.
And Congress as a whole adopts
What lets us be Grandma, Grandpa,
And guarantees no one will teach
Kids’ kids to swim at Pike’s Peak Beach.
