First Save All the Doctors

It’s not redundancy or price
That jeopardize health care’s reform.
It’s that these issues can’t suffice
To scope out what should be the norm:
What helps three hundred million Yanks
And not what feeds the lobbies’ ranks.

So why not think inside the box?
Forget a universal need.
Three-quarters of a million docs
Are those whose pleas we ought to heed
To save their economic skin
And modernize our medicine.

Like subsidizing golf-course fees
But only by another name.
Say, Ruralized Activities.
It’s how the Congress plays the game.
Marina costs as well. The ruse?
Would you accept Terrain-Free Use?

Tuition at kids’ private schools?
Advanced Instructional Modules.
And for malpractice lawyers' fees,
Such benefits in legalese.
Perhaps if all they felt was rich,
They wouldn’t make our lives a bitch.
