Running on Bounty

John Edwards’ fate, no matter what,
Would serve him right for all his wrong.
A pretty boy must watch his butt
Both in the yard and all night long.
If not in prison, dirty looks
From all who loathe acquitted crooks.

For villain he will ever be.
With millionairess Mellon’s wads
He tried to hide his progeny
With squeeze Rielle, against all odds.
In time, a scandal sheet was rife
With details for his ailing wife.

The funds, the prosecution pled,
Were for a run for president,
And not, as Edwards’ defense said,
To keep the birth a hushed event
To spare his wife Elizabeth;
Made public, though, before her death.

What else were they intended for?
If he were not a candidate,
Would Bunnny’ve been his savior?
I think not. Meantime calls await
About if his mistrial should stand.
At least in politics he’s fanned.
