Obama, does he flip and flop?
On second thought he wants a stop
To photos showing all the world
More shame that leaves our hair re-curled:
Some troops afflicting detainees
With torture that he now foresees
As grounds for anti-GI hate
And reason to retaliate.
How terror suspects will be tried,
His thinking’s also modified.
Tribunals that the Pentagon
Convenes with guilty! near foregone,
At first as candidate he fought
And now as president he’s sought
To sometimes skip a standard court
And let the worst have less resort.
In doing so, he’s angered those
Who say he’s stepped on leftist toes
Attached to feet out on the trail
In fifty states so he’d prevail.
Perhaps, he nods. As candidate,
What made sense he'd as soon debate.
What he knows now? In his command
Are troops who get the upper hand.
To flip and flop, say what you will.
To bend not break takes strength and skill.
