When Virtue is More than its Reward

Hey chump— yeah you!— who zeros out
The balance on your MasterCard
Each month, so cloyingly devout,
Avoiding interest. Be en garde.

Becoming law is more control
Of juice like that which Visa charged.
Capiche, paesan? That’s what we stole
When interest that you owed enlarged.

Compounded daily you were told
In print too small for you to see
Your rate could climb two- three- fourfold.
Don't like? Want grief? If so, which knee?

Not able now to stiff the stiffs
No matter if their debits climb,
We scratched our heads and posed what-ifs—
What if we clip who pays on time?

Hey, you again! Don’t lather so.
The law says we can cut our loss
With higher fees for those with dough
I hope I got my point across.

Agree most all the Congressmen
Although they might seem out for larks.
Germane, the law permits a gun
To stay safe in our National Parks.
