What, Us Worry?

Hail! Judge Sonia Sotomayor,
A High Court twofer when confirmed:
Hispanic woman, skilled and more,
Methodical but free, she’s termed.

And difficult to tag, she’s shown.
Though liberal, not far-left wing
She ruled that racist rants alone
Aren’t cause for free-speech meddling.

Denying funding to provide
Abortion services abroad,
She even took George Bush’s side.
Conservatives, I’d hope, applaud.

They don’t, though, when they hear that she,
When firemen who tested best
Were not promoted, her decree
Was since blacks scored behind the rest.

She says what praises jurists draw
Is not perforce how they are trained,
As she at Princeton, then Yale Law,
But what life’s happenstance ordained.

“A wise Latina woman” might—
She’s said by now most famously—
Judge better than a man who’s white
Who hasn't lived unequally.

Hi, once more, Judge Sotomayor
Much luck! And shrug off us elites.
White men have rightly deemed before
Such coloring as two-way streets.
