How Did We Get Here?

This won’t be long, I guarantee.
Subparticles are not my strength,
One named for God especially,
(A daunting task at any length)
And recognized, in language terse,
For mass we call the universe.

It sheds its own to other ’trons
That atoms in all forms comprise.
Another oddity it spawns,
And to the Big Bang view gives rise:
Unending replicas embrace
A microdot where’er in space.

They’re known as bosons, this one Higgs,
The scientist who must have guessed
That one of physics’ all-time bigs
Would be who finally put to rest
The first dot had to come from God,
Though somewhere else will Higgs please nod?
