Lurking in the Coal Mine

The record heat, the record drought,
The drenching storms, the higher seas
Are on the rise beyond a doubt,
Stark matters strictly of degrees.
Schlemiels who question climate change,
Its fallout seems to more derange.

Have not they seen around the world
The shorelines creeping ever in
Since polar glacial mass has hurled
Some icebergs never seen akin?
Each hundred years, so big their size,
A half a foot sea levels rise.

The measure might not seem like much
When calculated vertically
But inundation caused is such
Already islands cease to be
And threatens our peninsula,
The better part of Florida.

By then our kids or grandkids might
Have thought of how to cool their sphere.
But till we’re certain that’s in sight
How dare we be so cavalier
When summer temperatures have arched
And left our midland crop fields parched.

Our greenhouse gas discharge has dropped
But mostly since our trade is less.
Still, we're the ones who ought to opt
To save the planet from this mess.
Let’s start by turning off our tubes
Each time Big Coal ads judge us boobs.
